The Second Bradfield Traditional Music Weekend

Photo: Will Noble and John Cocking of the Pennine Concert Party The English Country Music Weekend for 2003 was held at Edgemount Farm in High Bradfield. The event was an outstanding success, and in response to many requests Mark Davies, who organised it and made his farm available for the weekend, agreed to organise another event for 2004. This was the First Bradfield Traditional Music Weekend; we're pleased to announce that there will be another weekend this year.

Roger Hinchliffe   Roger Hinchliffe from Lodge Moor near Sheffield is a farmer and a haulage contractor. His distinctive singing style reflects that of his father, Frank, and his uncle, Stanley Marsden, from whom he learnt his songs.

Hannah Hutton   Hannah comes from Rothbury in Northumberland and is a much admired performer of songs from the border tradition. Her late husband was the great Northumbrian piper, Joe Hutton.

Jerry O'Reilly,  Jerry is from Dublin, where he works as a housing officer. He was born into a singing family and is noted for his declamatory ballad style. His repertoire comes from all over Ireland, especially Clare, Kerry and Cork.   Jim McFarland & Maire ni Cronih (members of the Goilin Singers' Club, Dublin).

There will be a real ale bar and on-site catering. Sessions will take place in local pubs and dancing in the barn or in the marquee. Talks will be given by experts on local musical traditions, including Ian Russell (Saturday morning) and Vic & Tina Smith (Sunday morning).

Weekend tickets are £10 per person, to include camping.
