Wombwell Music & Arts Fair

English Country Music Weekend

The annual event devoted to English traditional music. Sessions, performances, workshops, talks and dance.

The Radio Ballads Wednesday 25th June
8 pm - 9 pm on BBC Radio 2
The first of two programmes celebrating the 45th anniversary of the original broadcast of The Ballad of John Axon; the first of the legendary Ewan MacColl / Charles Parker Radio Ballads. Gillian Reynolds discusses the revolutionary effect which the programmes had on subsequent broadcasting techniques. She will also be discussing the Charles Parker Archive.
Midsummer Madness with Barnsley Folk Development Network
Wednesday 25th June
With Artisan; supported by Ray Hearne, Michelle Howell, Rachel Hamby and the young stars of the Barnsley Folk Ensemble. Prior to the event, Ritmo Unido Samba Band will be performing on the street, and Wath Morris Dancers and Barnsley Longsword Dancers will be dancing.
