The competition is being hosted by the Dancing England Rapper Tournament 2002, and will take place in the morning of Saturday 13 April 2002. There will be time for dancers to practice between 9.15 and 9.45 am, with the competition starting promptly at 10am.
For dancers who are entering DERT and wanting to participate in the rapper practice tours, we'll make sure your entry numbers are drawn first so you can catch up with your rapper team as soon as possible. Please indicate this on the entry form, giving the name of your rapper side so we know which pub to direct you to!
On to the competition.....
Your dance:
This should comprise of 10 steps, which can be your own or traditional, danced to the rhythm of your choice.
Music:
Please note you will need to provide your own musician.
What you'll be judged on:
The Judges:
Our judges are all experienced dancers and musicians. Listed below are the individual categories:
Each category will be marked out of a maximum of 20 points. In addition the judges will mark Overall Presentation for which the total will be averaged out of 20. This will give each dancer an overall mark out of a maximum 80 points.
The awards:
Although all the dancers will be judged together, there will be two awards; one for under 16s and one for 16 and over.
The awards will be presented during the afternoon rapper tournament where winners will be invited to display their routine if they wish.
